EKS Samples / eksctl

Eksctl Samples

ClusterConfig YAML files for creating and managing Amazon EKS clusters with eksctl. Each example covers a specific cluster topology or node group configuration you can apply directly.

5 Examples

Get Started with EKS

01

The simplest starting point — a create-cluster.yaml ClusterConfig file that provisions a basic EKS cluster with default managed node groups.

eksctl Managed Node Groups aws-cli

EKS Auto Mode Cluster

02

Create a cluster with EKS Auto Mode enabled — AWS fully manages node provisioning, patching, and scaling. Includes a config to enable Auto Mode on an existing cluster.

EKS Auto Mode eksctl aws-cli

Reuse an Existing IAM Role

03

Create a cluster with both managed and unmanaged node groups that attach to a pre-existing IAM role instead of letting eksctl create one — useful in organisations with strict IAM governance.

Ubuntu Node Groups

04

Add self-managed and managed node groups running Ubuntu 20.04 to an existing cluster. Includes custom bootstrap commands for containerd, max-pods tuning, and DNS configuration.

EKS with Fargate Profile

05

Create an EKS cluster with a Fargate profile for fully serverless node management — no EC2 instances to patch or scale. Ideal for burst workloads and lightweight microservices.
