Your First Agent (Managed Harness)

Who this is for

First-time builders who want the fastest path to a working agent without writing orchestration code. The managed harness handles the agent loop, model configuration, and system prompt for you. If you want full control over orchestration, see Build from CLI.

Deploy an agent using the AgentCore managed harness. The harness gives you a running agent with a reachable endpoint in minutes — you define the model, system prompt, and tools; AgentCore manages the execution loop.

Create your first harness agent

The fastest path today is the AgentCore CLI:

agentcore create --name myfirstagent --model-provider bedrock
agentcore dev

This scaffolds a harness project and opens the browser test page where you can chat with your agent immediately.
